Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how PlaceYourSkill.com (the “Company”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects your personal information when you access or use the website and services at PlaceYourSkill.com (the “Service”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data in a transparent and lawful manner, consistent with applicable data protection laws, including the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended (“CCPA/CPRA”). By using the Service, you consent to the practices described in this Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

  • Account & Identity Data — your first, middle, and last name, email address, telephone number, and password (stored only in encrypted/hashed form).
  • Resume & Application Content — the work history, qualifications, cover letters, job descriptions, and other documents you create, upload, or generate through the Service.
  • Transaction & Subscription Data — the plan you select, subscription status, start and expiry dates, and referral activity. Payment card details are processed by our third-party payment providers and are not stored on our servers.
  • Technical & Usage Data — IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and interactions with the Service, collected automatically through cookies and similar technologies.

2. How We Use Your Information

We process your personal information for the following purposes and on the following legal bases:

  • To provide the Service (performance of a contract) — to create and maintain your account, generate and store your resumes and cover letters, and deliver the features you request.
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions (performance of a contract).
  • To communicate with you (legitimate interests) — to respond to enquiries, send service-related notices, and provide support.
  • To improve and secure the Service (legitimate interests) — to analyze usage, prevent fraud and abuse, and maintain the security of our systems.
  • To comply with legal obligations (legal compliance).

3. Cookies and Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, maintain session security, and understand how the Service is used. Strictly necessary cookies are required for the Service to function. We may also use analytics tools to collect aggregated, statistical information about site usage. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings; however, disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Service.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only with: (a) trusted service providers who process data on our behalf (such as hosting, payment processing, and document-generation providers) under contractual confidentiality obligations; (b) authorities or third parties where required by law, regulation, legal process, or to protect our rights, safety, or property; and (c) a successor entity in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

5. Data Storage, Retention, and Security

We retain your personal information for as long as your account remains active and for such additional period as is necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. Passwords are stored using industry-standard one-way hashing, and access to personal data is restricted to authorized personnel. While we implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to safeguard your data, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights in respect of your personal information:

  • Access — to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Rectification — to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
  • Erasure — to request deletion of your personal data (the “right to be forgotten”).
  • Restriction & Objection — to restrict or object to certain processing of your data.
  • Data Portability — to receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw Consent — to withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
  • CCPA/CPRA Rights — California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request deletion, to correct inaccurate information, and to be free from discrimination for exercising these rights. As noted, we do not sell personal information.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 9. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored in countries other than your own. Where personal data is transferred across borders, we take appropriate steps to ensure that it receives an adequate level of protection in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of eighteen (18), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

9. Contact Us

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Policy.
